Are you looking for reliable, effective and safe solar panel cleaning expert? Exhoclean, the specialised external cleaning division of S&E Cleaning Services, is here to help.
Keeping your solar panels clean isn’t just about maintenance—it’s about maximising the efficiency of your solar energy system. Studies show that solar panels can lose up to 50% of their efficiency if they aren’t regularly cleaned. The financial impact is immediate—clean panels generate more electricity, which translates to lower energy bills.
This is especially important during the spring and summer months when solar panels are at their peak performance. Dust, pollen, bird droppings, and other environmental debris can accumulate on your panels, significantly reducing their ability to capture sunlight. Given that solar panels can last up to 30 years, regular cleaning is crucial, particularly in areas where dust and debris are prevalent.
Bird droppings pose a unique challenge, as they not only block sunlight but can also cause lasting damage if not promptly removed. Our environmentally friendly pure water reach-and-wash cleaning system offers a safe and efficient solution. By using pure water—free from impurities and chemicals—we ensure your solar panels are cleaned thoroughly without harming the environment or the panels themselves.
Exhoclean’s Solar Panel Cleaning Services are available for residential and commercial properties, helping you maintain your solar panels’ efficiency and extend their lifespan. Experience the difference with Exhoclean’s professional approach and unlock the full potential of your solar energy system. Contact us today to schedule your cleaning and start maximising your energy savings.

Each of our vans is equipped with a state-of-the-art Reach & Wash System, allowing our team to safely clean solar panels up to 65 feet high—all while remaining securely on the ground.
Our system uses Heated Ultra-Pure Water, a powerful cleaning solution that cuts through dirt and grime without the need for chemicals or leaving behind streaks. This ultra-pure water is produced through a combination of RO membranes and laboratory-grade de-ionization vessels, ensuring the highest quality clean. The water is then pumped through our water-fed poles, fitted with specialised brush heads, for a thorough and gentle cleaning process.
This pure water approach not only ensures faster drying times, even in colder weather, but it also provides a safe and effective cleaning solution for all types of solar panels.
With everything powered and supplied directly from our vans, all we need is access to your property—our team takes care of the rest.

Does cleaning solar panels make a difference?
Cleaning your solar panels can make a huge difference to the amount of energy they generate. Dirt, debris, bird droppings and anything else that might settle on the surface of your panels can stop them from working effectively. This means that their output is decreased so you aren’t generating as much energy as you could be.
Giving them a good clean means they are able to do their job more effectively, especially during the sunnier months.
Can you use a pressure washer on solar panels?
It’s not a good idea to use a pressure washer on solar panels as it could cause damage, which can shorten their lifespan. Similarly, you don’t want to use anything abrasive or any harsh chemicals, as these could also damage the surface of the panels.
What is the best way to clean solar panels?
The simplest answer to this question is ‘gently’. A soft brush is the best option, as it will help to get rid of dirt build-up without damaging the surface of your solar panels. We use a pure water system that is nice and gentle while still being incredibly effective.
How often should solar panels be washed?
Most manufacturers recommend giving your solar panels a good clean twice a year in order to keep them functioning at their best. It’s a good idea to check them every now and then to see if they need a clean – especially if you live in an area where there is a lot of dust. At the very least, you should be cleaning your solar panels once a year.
When should you clean solar panels?
Ideally, you want to make sure that your solar panels are ready to make the most of the sunny weather, so it’s a good idea to get them cleaned at the start of spring.
However, as they’ll see less sun during the autumn and winter months, you want to improve their output as much as possible during these times. This is why it could also be beneficial to get them cleaned at the start of autumn.
It is also a good idea to clean them in the morning or late afternoon/evening, so the water doesn’t dry while you’re still cleaning them, as this can leave smudges and dirty streaks on your panels.
Do I need to turn off solar panels to clean them?
Yes – you should totally shut down your solar panel system before cleaning them. As they are an electrical system, shutting them off will ensure the safety of the person cleaning your solar panels.
